We’re so happy for you! After years of considering what to do about your crooked teeth, you’ve decided that now is the time to take action. Dr. Narita and his staff are ready to get started by offering Invisalign®, an orthodontic system that is not like the traditional braces you’re accustomed to seeing on people’s teeth. That’s because you almost cannot see Invisalign braces at all. When you starting wearing Invisalign, you and Dr. Narita may be the only ones to ever know that you have braces!
Unlike conventional orthodontics that rely on metal brackets and wires to move your teeth into alignment, Invisalign uses clear plastic mouth trays made of BPA-free plastic. Each tray fits tightly over your teeth in order to apply firm but gentle pressure. Most of our patients report being able to adjust to the feeling of their Invisalign aligners in just a few days. And because there are no wires to poke your cheeks or brackets to irritate your gums, these braces are much more comfortable than the traditional ones.
Not being self-conscious about your braces is only the first advantage of Invisalign. Another benefit is that these braces are removable. No one with brackets and wires bonded to their teeth can say that! Whenever you’re ready to have breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack, all you have to do is take out the aligners and eat. With Invisalign, anything goes—there are no restrictions, which is often the case with traditional braces that can be dislodged or broken by carrots, popcorn, chewy candy and other similar types of foods.
In addition, wearing removable braces means that you’ll be able to brush and floss more effectively. With bonded braces, oral hygiene can be a bit of a challenge. Not with Invisalign. The braces come off and you can clean your teeth as usual while you’re in the midst of orthodontic treatment.
As a certified Invisalign provider, Dr. Narita works closely with technicians in the Invisalign lab to give you aligners that are tailor made to align your teeth. We begin with a comprehensive set of x-rays, impressions and photographs of your teeth and mouth. These form the basis of Dr. Narita’s treatment plan and the guide that the lab uses to create your aligners that will be sent to our dental office in Allen.
Your job is to wear each pair of aligners every day for at least 22 hours. This schedule ensures the timely completion of your orthodontic treatment. Wear each set for two weeks, throw them away and then move on to the next pair.
Every six to eight weeks you’ll need to come see Dr. Narita for a progress check. And while the length of your treatment time will depend on the unique needs of your occlusion, most people have a straight and beautiful smile in less than two years.
Please call us today to schedule your Invisalign consultation. Dr. Narita sees patients from Allen, Lucas, Fairview, Plano, McKinney, and surrounding Texas towns.
